In den vergangenen 2,5 Jahren war es etwas stiller um mich, weshalb ich euch gerne ein kleines Update gebe und in ein paar Worten berichten möchte, was in dieser Zeit alles passiert ist.
Ende 2022 trat eine unerwartete Wendung in meinem Leben ein, die so nicht absehbar war und die ich nie geplant hatte: Ich verließ meine geliebte Heimatstadt Duisburg. Nach sechs Monaten intensiver Suche und zahllosen Stunden im Auto fanden wir schließlich ein passendes Zuhause in Reutlingen.
Doch aufgrund des Handwerkermangels nahm alles einen anderen Verlauf als ursprünglich geplant. Ich war gezwungen, viele Dinge selbst in die Hand zu nehmen – was natürlich dazu führte, dass meine Musik erstmal in den Hintergrund trat. Auch stieß ich an gesundheitliche und körperliche Grenzen, die mir zuvor fremd waren. Einige dieser Herausforderungen begleiten mich noch immer, aber insgesamt geht es mir gut – auch wenn ich nicht ganz fit bin, daran arbeite ich momentan.
Trotz allem fühlen wir uns hier in Reutlingen sehr wohl. Allerdings fehlen mir meine Freunde aus Duisburg sehr – nach 56 Jahren dort und 50 Jahren in meinem alten Zuhause hat die Stadt einen ganz besonderen Platz in meinem Herzen. Wer Duisburg kennt, weiß, dass dort viel Wasser vom Himmel fällt – das ist hier in Reutlingen ganz anders. So viel Sonne habe ich nicht gekannt, außer vielleicht aus Griechenland. Reutlingen ist wirklich toll!
Unser neues Zuhause ist mittlerweile zu 90 % fertig, und noch viel wichtiger: Mein Studio ist nun voll funktionsfähig und einsatzbereit! Und damit kommen wir zum eigentlichen Highlight: Musik! In diesem Jahr wird sich einiges tun.
Aktuell arbeite ich an der Mischung des ersten englischsprachigen Albums meiner Frau Katie. Wir haben ein großartiges Album im Stil des 80er Mainstream- und Melodic Rock produziert. Dabei haben wir einige internationale Songwriter ins Boot geholt. Das Album wird voraussichtlich Mitte 2025 erscheinen – Updates dazu folgen in Kürze.
Besonders freue ich mich, euch mitteilen zu können, dass wir bereits am neuen MB’s Jaded Hard-Album arbeiten. Rippel (Gitarre) und Hexe (Keys) haben ihre Parts bereits vor zwei Wochen hier in Reutlingen aufgenommen – es war wie früher: sechs Tage à 14 Stunden im Studio, danach gemütliches Zusammensitzen. Die Drums (Maikel) sind für dieses Wochenende geplant, und Baumi wird in den nächsten zwei bis drei Wochen nach Reutlingen kommen, um seinen Bass einzuspielen. Wie ihr seht, geht es zügig voran! Der Release ist für Ende August 2025 geplant.
In Sachen Liveauftritte gibt es einige Highlights. Ich werde zum Beispiel mit meinen „Norwegern“ RAIN auf der Fantasy Rock Cruise spielen. Natürlich darf auch das ROCK N´LOC nicht fehlen, eine Herzensangelegenheit für mich. Und auch einige unplugged Shows wird es geben.

Und es gibt noch mehr: SAPPHIRE EYES! Bevor das MBJH-Album erscheint, wird es ein weiteres neues Album geben. Ich freue mich riesig, das neue Album der schwedischen Band Sapphire Eyes zu singen. Niklas Olsson (Hauptmann, Songwriter und Keyboarder) und ich sind seit 20 Jahren befreundet und haben schon einige Songs gemeinsam geschrieben. Das wird großartig!

Außerdem steht noch ein weiteres Album an, bei dem ich das Mikrofon in die Hand nehme – allerdings wird dieses erst Mitte/Ende 2025 an den Start gehen. Aber keine Sorge, ich halte euch selbstverständlich auf dem Laufenden!

Over the past 2.5 years, things have been a bit quieter on my end, so I’d like to give you a small update and share a few words about what’s been happening during this time.
At the end of 2022, an unexpected twist in my life occurred, one that I could never have foreseen or planned: I left my beloved hometown of Duisburg. After six months of intense searching and countless hours spent driving, we finally found a new home in Reutlingen.
However, due to the shortage of craftsmen, things took a different turn than originally planned. I was forced to take many things into my own hands – which, of course, meant that my music had to take a back seat. I also faced health and physical challenges that were previously unknown to me. Some of these challenges are still with me, but overall, I’m doing well – though not yet fully fit, I’m actively working on it.
Despite everything, we feel very comfortable here in Reutlingen. However, I do miss my friends from Duisburg very much – after 56 years there and 50 years in my old home, the city holds a very special place in my heart. Anyone who knows Duisburg knows that a lot of water falls from the sky there – that’s quite different here in Reutlingen. I’ve never known so much sunshine, except perhaps in Greece. Reutlingen is really amazing!
Our new home is now 90% finished, and more importantly: my studio is fully functional and ready for use! And this brings us to the real highlight: Music! A lot is going to happen this year.
At the moment, I’m working on mixing the first English-language album by my wife Katie. We’ve produced a fantastic album in the style of 80s mainstream and melodic rock. We’ve brought in some international songwriters to contribute as well. The album is expected to be released in mid-2025 – more updates will follow soon.
I’m particularly excited to share that we’re already working on the new MB’s Jaded Hard album. Rippel (guitar) and Hexe (keys) recorded their parts here in Reutlingen two weeks ago – it was just like the old days: six days of 14-hour studio sessions, followed by cozy hangouts. The drums (Maikel) are scheduled for this weekend, and Baumi will be coming to Reutlingen in the next two to three weeks to lay down his bass tracks. As you can see, progress is moving quickly! The release is planned for the end of August 2025.
There are also some exciting live performances on the horizon. I’ll be playing with my "Norwegian" band RAIN on the Fantasy Rock Cruise. And of course, ROCK N’LOC will not be missing – that’s a project that’s very close to my heart. We’ll also be doing some unplugged shows.
And there’s more: SAPPHIRE EYES! Before the MBJH album is released, another new album will be coming out. I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be singing on the new album by the Swedish band Sapphire Eyes. Niklas Olsson (frontman, songwriter, and keyboardist) and I have been friends for 20 years and have written several songs together. It’s going to be amazing!
Additionally, there’s another album in the works where I’ll be taking the mic – but I can´t tell you about it right now. It´s planned for late 2025. Don’t worry though, I’ll keep you updated!
